Athletics

Congratulations to all the students who represented Greenside at the Northwest Championships last week. Our long jump team did well and Sam Perch finished third in the Under-13s. Hayley Borne came second in the Junior Girls’ 1500m and Fred Wilson won the Senior Boys’ 800m. Fred is going to represent the Northwest in the National Championships next month. When Pulse spoke to him, he said he trained every day and he was feeling great.
Good luck, Fred!

Hockey

The Greenside Senior Hockey team has had an extremely successful year, with some wonderful play and a great team spirit. Congratulations! This term we’ve won seven of our nine matches. The players have enjoyed trips to Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester and Stockport, as well as hosting some lively matches at Greenside. Thanks to everyone who came to support the team, and to all the parents who have helped with refreshments. Finally, special thanks to Miss O’Keefe, Mr Hartigan and Mrs Sutton for their enthusiasm, energy and patience.

Football

The football season will begin again soon, so get your boots out! If you would like to play for the school, there are four teams – Under 14, Under 15, Under 16 and Under 19. Trials will begin next Saturday: 10 am on the sports field. We have regular training sessions, so you don’t have to be the next Wayne Rooney. Second-hand football kit is available from the school shop at very reasonable prices. For more information, contact Mr Hartigan at [email protected]
