2 PRESENTATION
What might tomorrow bring?
A Listen to the interview with Mary Martin and follow the text. Would you like to have Mary’s job? Give reasons for your answer.
Mary Martin works as a private investigator in New York.
How long have you been a private investigator?
For eight years now. Before that, I used to work in the police department.
Tell us a bit about your daily routine.
There isn’t a routine. You never know what might happen. Tomorrow, for example, I might get a phone call from a client and then I might spend the rest of the day outside someone’s house. I may not finish until midnight. Sometimes I use a disguise, or change the way I speak. And I travel a lot. I may go abroad next week. I’m not sure yet. I’m, er, working for someone well known at the moment.
But you aren’t going to give us any details?
No. I’m afraid I can’t. But I might write a book when I retire. So, when you read my autobiography, you’ll know all my secrets!
B Read the interview again. Match the questions with the answers. Then ask and answer.
