I haven’t got anything for Julio
A What can you say about the photo?
B Listen to the conversation. How many different things do Ana and Jay look at?
Ana and Jay are at Portobello Road market. It’s one of the largest antiques markets in the world. Ana is looking for some presents.
Ana: I must get some presents. I’m going home next week.
Jay: Yes, I know.
Ana: I’ve bought something for Clara, but I haven’t got anything for Julio. And I’ve got nothing for my parents yet.
Jay: This teapot’s nice. It’s made of real silver.
Ana: Yes, it’s lovely. Julio wants a watch. Look! These are nice.
Man: Can I help you? Are you looking for anything in particular?
Ana: I need some presents for my family in Veracruz.
Man: Veracruz! That’s funny! I know someone in Veracruz.
Ana: Really?
Man: Yes. He’s got an antique shop. It’s somewhere near the port, I think. His name’s Gerardo, Gerardo Sanchez.
Ana: That’s amazing! I know Gerardo. Clara and I have been to his shop lots of times.
Man: Well, it’s a small world!
Jay: That’s weird! What a coincidence! Hey, Ana, have you seen these little London buses?
Man: They’re four ninety-nine each. But I’ll give you three for ten quid. A real bargain.
Ana: But they’re made in China! Look!
Man: That’s all right. They’re the perfect souvenir of Britain. As I said, it’s a small world these days, love!
